Link preview: custom Open Graph on every branded short link

A link preview is the card before the click: image, title, and one line. Visib stores custom Open Graph fields on each vlink so your short URL can show the card you want when the link is pasted into feeds and chats, independent of the destination page defaults.

What Visib controls on the short URL

Each vlink has three Open Graph fields in the dashboard: OG Title, OG Description, and OG Image. Social crawlers that request your Visib short link read those tags from Visib. People who open a plain redirect link go straight to the destination. Links with a CTA overlay use the same saved tags for sharing.

On create, Visib copies the destination's tags automatically when it can fetch them. In the editor you can Re-fetch from URL, type overrides, or upload an image file (JPEG, PNG, WebP, or GIF, max 5MB). Visib does not resize or crop uploads.

The product story behind static cards is in the custom social preview article. Organizing many links in one workspace is covered on the link management tool page.

Share cards on LinkedIn, X, WhatsApp, and Slack

When the default unfurl is wrong on LinkedIn, X, WhatsApp, or Slack, you want the short URL to serve your own og:title, og:description, and og:image. Visib detects common social bots (including LinkedInBot, Twitterbot, WhatsApp, Slackbot, and others) and serves the fields saved on your vlink.

A Slack unfurl or an X post can show your headline and art even when the long destination URL would pull a different crop. Visib does not guarantee instant updates on every network after you edit a field; platforms cache cards and offer inspector tools when you need a fresh scrape.

Pair custom cards with branded hostnames via the custom domain URL shortener and measure opens with the link click tracker.

How to set custom Open Graph tags in Visib

Follow these steps when you need to preview a link card before a launch, or when you want to check how the card looks before your audience sees it in a feed.

  1. Sign in on a paid plan

Open Visib and sign in with Google or email. Choose Starter (9 €/mo) or Business (19 €/mo). Both include the vlink editor with Social Preview (OG Tags). New accounts need an active subscription before creating links.

  2. Create a vlink with your destination URL

In the dashboard, create a vlink and paste the page you plan to share. On create, Visib copies the destination Open Graph title, description, and image onto the link when it can fetch them.

  3. Edit Social Preview (OG Tags)

Open the vlink editor and expand Social Preview (OG Tags). Set a custom OG title, description, and image for this short link. Use Re-fetch from URL to copy the destination tags again, or upload your own image (JPEG, PNG, WebP, or GIF, up to 5MB).

  4. Save, copy the short URL, and share

Save the vlink and copy the short URL on visib.link or on a verified custom domain. When someone pastes that URL into LinkedIn, X, WhatsApp, Slack, or similar apps, their crawler reads the tags you saved on the Visib link, not only the destination page defaults.
